PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
The skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard are required by people in the field of manufacturing and engineering.
The learning outcomes in this unit standard also contribute to the exit level outcomes required for various manufacturing and engineering qualifications.
Qualifying learners can develop a learning plan on how to achieve credits towards a qualification and compile a portfolio for assessment based on learning acquired. They are able to demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of the learning and assessment system and of learning plans and assessment portfolios, including their rights and all applicable procedures.

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
This unit standard has been designed as part of a progression. It is one of a series of unit standards for life skills in the field of manufacturing and engineering.

UNIT STANDARD RANGE
The scope and level of this unit standard is determined by the ranges as indicated under the specific outcomes.

Specific Outcomes and Assessment Criteria:

PROVIDERS CURRENTLY ACCREDITED TO OFFER THIS UNIT STANDARD:
This information shows the current accreditations (i.e. those not past their accreditation end dates), and is the most complete record available to SAQA as of today. Some Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionaries have a lag in their recording systems for provider accreditation, in turn leading to a lag in notifying SAQA of all the providers that they have accredited to offer qualifications and unit standards, as well as any extensions to accreditation end dates. The relevant Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionary should be notified if a record appears to be missing from here.
