    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    This unit standard applies to persons in the safety in society environment concerning the administration and compilation of a case docket with a level that allows then to take decisions independently.

    Prescribed format - 3m forms, pre-amble, body, conclusion, signature, certificate.

    1. The statement is completed according to the prescribed format. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    2. Language content is clear and understandable according to organizational procedures.

    3. The statement contains all elements of the crime that is being reported including dates, time and places of occurrence according to organizational procedures.

    1. The outer and inner cover of the docket is fully completed with all relevant information according to organizational procedures.

    3. The docket conforms to organisational orders to ensure successful investigation according to organizational procedures.

    3. All other linked functions to the docket have been completed to ensure the completeness of the process according to organizational procedures.

    4. Computer security is maintained concerning own password and access code according to organizational procedures.

    5. The case is transferred to the case register if the computer of line according to organizational procedures.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    1. The docket is transferred by hand, allocated or posted and successfully received by the next station according to organizational procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    2. The docket is allocated to the relevant role-player on the computer system according to organizational procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    3. The complainant is informed of the envisaged transfer of the docket according to organizational procedures. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    1. Candidates are assessed against these assessment criteria. An assessor observes currently employed candidates carrying out their normal work duties. They may also be asked to carry out simulated tasks and to answer written and/or oral questions. Candidates studying towards a Unit Standard, and who are not currently employed, will also be assessed using variety of assessment tools.
    2. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
    3. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be accredited as a provider through the relevant ETQA by SAQA.
    4. Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures.

    The standard describes competent performance when opening a docket to ensure a completed docket, and lay down the criteria by which competence should be judged, as well as the range of circumstances in which competence should be demonstrated.

    Integrated assessment methods and tools will allow the candidate to demonstrate that she/he has acquired knowledge of and can safely and effectively apply competence identified in this unit standard.

    These tools include the following:
    o In-situ (on-the-job) observations
    o Role-play simulations
    o Structured group discussions
    o Written reports (e.g. tests, exams, case studies, projects, registers, logbooks, workbooks)
    o Verbal report backs (presentations)
    o Portfolios of evidence
    o Projects (physical visits to Government Departments)
    o Experiential learning
    o Working in teams
    o Scenario sketching

    These methods must be carefully selected based on the purpose of the assessment (for example, the written method of assessing knowledge or on-job demonstration of practical competence). The assessment must integrate a number of different methods in order to give the assessor reliable and valid proof of competence and evidence of required attitudes.

    Candidates are assessed against these assessment criteria. Currently employed candidates are observed carrying out their normal work duties by an assessor. They may also be asked to carry out simulated tasks and to answer written and/or oral questions. Candidates studying towards a Unit Standard, and who are not currently employed, will also be assessed using variety of assessment tools.

    Training providers offering the qualifications, or part thereof, shall be accredited in terms of the criteria laid down by the relevant SETA/ETQA.

    Qualified Assessors will be appointed by the training institutions offering the qualifications and must be registered and accredited with the relevant SETA/ETQA.
