PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Persons credited with this unit standard will be able to identify and resolve rejected foreign exchange items and attend to queries. 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
Items rejected because of insufficient funds, items rejected because of unidentified accounts or lack of details, and items rejected because of invalid message types, NAK-ED, Nostro and Vostro items.

1. The relevant daily report is scrutinised according to the bank's procedures to establish the occurrence of any rejected items or messages.s.

2. The nature of the rejected item or message is identified according to the bank's guidelines. 

ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
3. The rejected item or message is resolved according to the nature of the item and the bank's procedures. 

ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
4. The necessary documentation is completed as required by the bank. 

ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
5. Any unresolved items are escalated to the appropriate authority in line with the bank's procedure

Accreditation process (including moderation):
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard or assessing this unit standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA.
  • Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures.

    Therefore anyone wishing to be assessed against this unit standard may apply to be assessed by any assessment agency, assessor or provider institution which is accredited by the relevant ETQA.

    The learner demonstrates the ability to collect, organise and critically evaluate information when the relevant daily report is scrutinised according to the banks procedures to establish the occurrence of any rejected items or messages.
