The learner must be able to prepare beds and handle linen and bed coverings in accordance with organisational requirements.
The learner must understand the importance of maintaining guest comfort and satisfaction when making beds.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the importance of making beds using clean linen and bed coverings.

The impact of keeping soiled linen and bed coverings separate from clean linen is explained.

The importance of not placing bed coverings that have been removed from beds, on the floor is explained.

Measures for securing linen storerooms from unauthorised access are explained.

The importance of turning mattresses over on a regular basis is explained.

Different bed types are described and the importance of using the correct type of bed linen and coverings when preparing these beds is explained.

    Range of bed coverings may include but is not limited to:
  • Sheets, blankets, bedspreads, pillowcases, duvet covers, duvet or pillows and mattress covers.

    Clean linen and bed coverings are collected from linen store using clean and undamaged transportation.

    Mattresses are turned and bed-base, headboard and bed coverings are checked to see that they are clean and free from damage.

    Beds are made with correct linen and bed coverings according to organisational requirements.
