PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This unit standard is for persons who work on hot-head or live steam presses for the finishing of items after the cleaning process within an industrial or commercial laundry.

The care labels and symbols on laundered items are interpreted, stating the impact on the articles from the pressing process. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 |
The types of fibres and fabrics are described in terms of their reaction to heat and pressure and how they must be dealt with during the pressing process. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 |
Damage to pressed articles is explained in terms of incorrect type of press or inappropriate pressing procedures. |

Pressing machines are adjusted and checked to ensure they are clean and safe and ready for use. |
