PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard applies to the valuation of special assets that are usually sold by auction, and would therefore have particular bearing on auction related qualifications. The acquisition of competence against this Standard will add value to the learner and the auctioneering industry as a whole and will also provide the basis for further development of the learner within the auctioneering industry.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Identifying and describing the different types of specialised movable assets.
  • Applying legal requirements pertaining to firearm sales.
  • Applying legal requirements pertaining to liquor sales.
  • Applying legal requirements pertaining to gold and precious stone sales.
  • Placing specialised movable assets in safe custody.

    LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that a learner will be competent in:
  • Communication at NQF Level 4.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 4.

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Firearms will include hand guns, pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, black powder guns, gas pistols, starter pistols/guns and semi-automatic guns.
  • Gold will include all unprocessed gold.
  • Liquor will include wines, spirits, beers, aperitifs and any other alcoholic beverage.

    Legal documentation for dealing with firearms is identified and completed as per legal and organizational requirements in all cases.

    Individual sellers of firearms are labelled in required format. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Receipts for firearms are issued according to legal requirements and in required format.

    The legal requirements for storing liquor are complied with at all times. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Legal documentation relating to the sale of liquor is identified and completed as per legal and organizational requirements in all cases.

    Individual sellers of liquor are dealt with as required by legislation.

    Receipts for liquor are issued according to legal requirements and in required format.

    Legal documentation for dealing with gold and precious stone sales is identified and completed as per legal and organizational requirements in all cases.

    Receipts for gold and precious stones are issued according to legal requirements and in required format.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed against the unit standard (including through Recognition of Prior Learning) may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance body (ETQA), or one with an appropriate memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard, or assessing this unit standard, must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
  • Moderation of assessment will be conducted by the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
  • Moderation should include both internal and external moderation where applicable.
