PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard would be useful to all people involved in the Auctioneering industry, particularly those involved in the Auctioneering of livestock, game and agricultural products.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Identifying and describing dangerous situations and events that have potential to harm workers and the work environment.
  • Identifying risk and applying risk assessment procedures in the auctioning industry.
  • Limiting damage to people, property and equipment in the case of an emergency.
  • Identifying and applying preventative procedures related to transmittable diseases.
  • Monitoring the implementation of the health and safety plan, systems and procedures.

    Safety measures for dangerous situations and events are described in terms of how they eliminate, isolate, minimise, contain or dispose of the problem.

    The types of transmittable diseases found amongst livestock and game are tabulated together with their preventative procedures.

    The types of transmittable diseases found amongst agricultural products are tabulated together with their preventative procedures.

    Procedures to prevent the spreading of transmittable diseases amongst livestock and game are described according to organisational procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Procedures to prevent the spreading of transmittable diseases amongst agricultural products are described according to organisational procedures.

    Monitor the implementation of the health and safety plan, systems and procedures.

    Safety compliance needs are reviewed to identify possible changes and amend the policies and procedures.
