PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard will be useful to learners who are planning to work in mining lamprooms, as well learners that are currently working in this field and are in need of a formal qualification.

Learners credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of electricity.
  • Conduct repairs on the charging point on a charging rack.
  • Conduct repairs on portable mine lighting.
  • Conduct inspections and repairs on self contained self-rescuers (SCSR).
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the storage requirements in a lamp room.
