PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for learners within the public relations or marketing sub-field who work or wish to work in a public relations or marketing office, section or department. This Unit Standard meets the needs of the sub-field and of the society by providing competent public relations or marketing assistants who, by assisting in the marketing activities, contributes to the public relations or marketing effort of the organisation.

The learner successfully completing this Unit Standard will gain essential knowledge of and practical exposure to the various functions related to public relations and marketing, create a research tool to determine market attitude and provide support, both practically and administratively to promotional efforts.
