    The functions of a community development worker are described in relation to the phases of community development.

    The changing roles of the community development worker is explained for various different situations. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Changing roles may include but are not limited to facilitator, mediator, advocate, lobbying, counsellor, coach, negotiator and organiser.

    Build capacity for sustainable community development.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The concepts of capacity building and sustainability are explained in relation to community development. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    An explanation of the principles and values of capacity building for sustainable community development is given. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Principles may include but are not limited people centred, participatory and strengths based transformation.

    An integrated capacity building project is planned and monitored for a particular context.

    The challenges of the community development initiative are identified to take appropriate action.

    Barriers and strengths are identified and used to advance the community development initiative.

    Evaluation tools are identified and used to establish the effectiveness of the community development initiative during and after its implementation.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding in place with the relevant ETQA.
