PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is aimed at individuals operating in the capacity as lead facilitators or senior facilitators who are required to lead teams or individuals responsible for the facilitation of Adventure Based Learning programmes and activities. Individuals found competent against this unit standard will be able to provide leadership and mentoring to enhance the quality of facilitation services provided through the monitoring of staff and thereby contribute to the development of junior facilitators involved in Adventure Based Learning organisations or centre's.

On achievement of this unit standard individuals will be able to:
  • Lead individuals or groups operating in the Adventure Based Learning environment.
  • Use mentoring to develop team performance.
  • Coordinate the development of facilitators in an Adventure Based Learning environment.

    A mentorship plan is developed for a facilitator in accordance with the individual's goals, monitoring and support requirements.

    Individual progress is monitored against set goals in relation to individual roles and responsibilities.

    Feedback is provided as per scheduled intervals in order to track individual progress and advancement.

    Individuals are supported in making decisions and resolving problems impacting on performance.

    Coordinate the development of facilitators in an Adventure Based Learning environment.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • An individual wishing to be assessed against the unit standard (including through RPL) may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance body (ETQA), or one with an appropriate memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard, or assessing this unit standard, must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
