This unit standard will be useful to people who are required to produce and manufacture fastening mechanisms for jewellery.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Manufacture hooks and clasps for a chain and a bracelet.
  • Manufacture earring fastening mechanisms.
  • Manufacture a brooch hinge, pin and catch.
  • Manufacture a hinge and catch for a bangle.
  • Manufacture a link and bar for a pair of cuff-links.
