PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The qualifying learner is capable of displaying products, services, promotional materials and related goods so as to effectively publicise, advertise and promote the sale of such products, services and related goods.

Displaying products and services may include but is not limited to showrooms of retail and wholesale outlets.

On achievement of this unit standard, the learner will be able to:
  • Present product, services, promotional material and related goods.
  • Mark and maintain products and related goods with relevant marketing/display information.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the display of products, services and related goods.

    The arrangement of a display may include but is not limited to marketing techniques pertaining to methods aimed at attracting clients and accessibility.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Organisational procedures for arranging the display of products, services and related goods can be explained and demonstrated. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Information relating to promotions is communicated to clients in such a way as to achieve maximum promotional value. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Converting a promotion into a sale is demonstrated according to company policy and procedure.

    The demonstration may include but is not limited to demonstrating the actions taken and explaining why these actions have been used to convert a promotion into a sale.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Organisational housekeeping procedures for maintaining the display of products, services and related goods are described and reasons given for this maintenance.

    Evaluate the effectiveness of the display of products, services and related goods.

    Techniques for monitoring and evaluating the success of products, services and related goods displays are performed according to company procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Current successes or failures of merchandising can be explained with reference to procedures that were successful or un-successful. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Company merchandising and display policies and strategies are explained in terms of their objectives. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Recommendations to optimise sales are made with reference to past and current success or failure initiatives.
