PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This unit standard is intended for learners who wish to work in the maritime environment. The learner successfully completing this Unit Standard will achieve the knowledge and practical competencies required to plan, control and co-ordinate the fighting of flooding on board a ship.

Shipboard areas that are serviced by salvage pumps and overboard discharge points for salvage pumps and eductors are located and identified on systems drawings and on the vessel. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 |
An explanation is given of the capacity and limitations of salvage pumps. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE |
Capacity includes but not limited to pumping rates in tonnes per hour of all fixed and portable salvage systems on board. |

Equipment serviced by safety stops and quick shut off valves are located and identified on systems drawings and on the vessel. |
