PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
The learner achieving this unit standard will be able to take all relevant practical steps necessary to control the activities of a lifeguarding duty squad so as to ensure its maximum efficiency. He/she will assemble, manage, organise and motivate the duty squad. In doing so, he/she will liaise with all role-players who might affect the services provided, in an endeavour to ensure optimum working conditions. The training of a sufficient number of lifeguards to perform the function of ensuring optimum functioning of duty squads will render lifeguarding services most effective, to the benefit of the public. This in turn can be expected to benefit the sub-field greatly.
