PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
The purpose of the learning is to be able to monitor heritage resource preservation processes within overall preservation programmes. Credited learners are able to ensure that required preservation procedures are followed and processes are in place to ensure heritage resource preservation, and can monitor the implementation of preservation policies for both intangible and tangible heritage.
Monitoring competence and the ability to monitor the implementation of policies are generic, and learners can apply these competencies to improve their own performance in the workplace. Improved heritage resource monitoring will ensure the continued existence and prolong the lifespan of heritage resources by, for example, reducing deterioration, thereby contributing to the social and economic development of both intangible and tangible heritage.
