PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This unit standard is useful for people who intend following a career in the diamond processing sector and who are required to rough cut and make round sawn and makeable diamond gemstones by using diamond impregnated wheels. This process is known as rough cutting.

The scope and context applies to the conversion of rough diamond gemstones into cut and polished diamond gemstones for sale into local and international markets.
This unit standard applies to persons rough cutting uncomplicated sawn and/or makeable diamond gemstones under general supervision, or where the person performing the activity deals with complicated sawn and/or makeable diamond gemstones only under close direction of a supervisor. |
