PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to understand the process to follow in the tracking and tracing of internationally traded consignments and how to lodge claims for lost, damaged or discrepant cargo. The learner will also be able to secure and analyse documents for clearing and delivery purposes and monitor the flow of the documentation to ensure its successful finalisation.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Tracking and tracing airfreight imports.
  • Initiating and monitoring document flows.
  • Controlling airfreight import procedures. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will be assumed competent in:
  • Communication at NQF Level 2 or equivalent.

    Systems are used to determine the whereabouts of internationally traded consignments. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    International airfreight consignments are expedited using a track and trace system. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Misdirected cargo is recovered using a track and trace system. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Claims for lost consignments are initiated on the evidence of track and trace information.

    Documents are secured from carriers and importers for the purpose of initiating release procedures.

    Arrangements for final delivery are made with transport providers.

    Shipments are invoiced according to organisational policies and procedures.

    Claims are lodged in respect of lost, damaged or discrepant cargo in compliance with insurance requirements and carrier's time bars.
