PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
The person credited with this Unit Standard will be able to explain and use various weather instrumentation, and capture weather data. The learner will also be able to perform fault finding activities as well as monitoring of the data and the inspections of both climate and rainfall stations. The learner will also be able to deal with people involved with the weather station in various capacities.

ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 |
The use and application of temperature sensors are explained with reference to the recording of temperature. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE |
Temperature sensors may include but are not limited to dry, wet, maximum and minimum thermometers, electronic temperature sensors, thermographs and thermohygographs. Dew point calculations are also included. |

The use and application of pressure sensors are explained with reference to the recording of pressure. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE |
Pressure sensors include but are not limited to mercury barometers, barographs and electronic pressure sensors. |
