PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners credited with this unit standard are able to develop and implement a marketing plan for an identified recreation activity or program; understand how to utilize resources effectively to meet the campaign objectives.

This standard will also add value to learners who are starting their own business and recognize that marketing forms an integral component of any business.

On completion of this unit standard the qualifying learner will be able to:
  • Draft and implement a marketing plan for a recreation program or activity.
  • Identifying and assessing marketing resources required.
  • Utilizing marketing resources to meet objectives.
  • Accounting for marketing resources.
  • Compile and submit a marketing report. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in communicating verbally and in writing, and computer technology at Level 3 on the NQF or equivalent.

  • Marketing resources includes people, time, capital, buildings, space.
  • Marketing strategies includes all forms of marketing communication, direct marketing, relationship marketing, sponsorship, event marketing, public relations and alternate strategies.

    The target markets are defined and clearly described.

    Target markets describe the groups included in the program and extend to children, youth, disabled, adults, and senior citizens.

    A strategic plan of the marketing process is developed.

    Strategic plan includes defining the mission of the organization, designing the plan based on the organizational objectives and the organisations portfolio.

    Identify and assess marketing resources required.

    Relevant marketing resources are identified.
