The learner studying this unit standard will gain an overview of the music business in its basic interaction with the media, public and itself.

Learners accredited with this Unit Standard will be capable of:
  • Defining and recognizing basic music related contracts.
  • Defining basic copyright.
  • Identifying roles of the artist's key music industry personnel.
  • Identifying basics of marketing in music.

    This unit standard will contribute to the development of a learner within the music field by providing recognition, further mobility and transportability within the field of music. The skills, knowledge and understanding demonstrated within this unit standard are essential for creating a solid foundation in the field of music.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • Any individual wishing to be assessed, (including RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a memorandum of understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a memorandum of understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must hold a minimum of level 3 qualification in the music field.
