PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to receive applications to transport dangerous goods and verify these applications. They are also able to approve or reject requests from applicants. Learners are also able to ensure the tanker complies with regulations and control measures to ensure safety at all times.

A person credited with this unit standard is capable of:
  • Receiving applications from stakeholders to move dangerous good within the port area.
  • Verifying the applications for the movement of dangerous goods.
  • Approving/rejecting applications from stakeholders.
  • Receiving tanker information as "tanker arrival notice" to ensure compliance.
  • Applying control measures to ensure procedures for optimum safety.

    The different permits that are necessary to move dangerous goods are identified, explained and described in relation to the international guidelines.

    All permits are submitted as part of the application as required by the international guidelines and port regulations.
