PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This unit standard will enable learners to operate the radio transceiver in a military and law enforcement environment. The purpose of voice communication and undertaking of basic maintenance will enhance the learner's ability to operate the radio transceiver.
Accuracy and security is paramount in this environment, compared to other users of the radio transceiver. This unit standard will also enable learners to apply speech procedures to communicate over a radio transceiver in a military and law enforcement organisation. Qualifying learners will be able to: |

Wherever the term "speech procedures" is used throughout this unit standard it should be interpreted as the procedures which are commonly used when communicating verbally via a radio transceiver.
Range of types of radios include, but are not limited to: Very High Frequency (VHF), High Frequency (HF). Range of roles include, but are not limited to: man pack, handheld, vehicle installation. Range of modes of operation include: but are not limited to: frequency modulation, amplitude modulation, simplex, speech, duplex.
