PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard are required by people in the field of autotronics.

The learning outcomes in this unit standard also contribute to the exit level outcomes required for the autotronics NQF level 4 qualification.

Qualifying learners are able to construct and test a variety of advanced working electronic circuits from advanced electronic circuit diagrams and manufacturer specific manuals.

This unit standard has been designed as part of a progression.

    Fundamentals of advanced electronics include analogue versus digital signals, digital codes (number systems), logic gates, microprocessor theory, addressing communication media and AD/DA converters, sensors and feed back control principles.

    Digital electronic circuits include Schmitt trigger (threshold switch), flip flops (monostable and astable), gating circuits, adders, timers, shift registers, AD/DA conversion, pulse forming, frequency divider, division control multivibrator, switching amplifiers, multiplier, multiplexing and integrated circuits.
