PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
Persons who have been found competent in this unit standard will be able to sample air by means of a real time dust monitor to determine the concentration of aerosols and recommend appropriate remedial action. This competency includes all the pre-, inter- and post-activities and explanations associated with the sampling procedure. |
LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING |
UNIT STANDARD RANGE |
All explanations are given in accordance with specified requirements and, where applicable, the consequences to health and safety are included.
Specified requirements include current legal and site-specific requirements and are contained in one or more of the following documents: Legal: Site-specific: |
Specific Outcomes and Assessment Criteria: |
SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 |
Explain the specified requirements pertaining to the sampling of air by means of a real time dust monitor to determine the concentration of aerosols and recommend appropriate remedial action. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 |
All the following are covered in the explanation:
|
SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 |
Prepare to sample the air by means of a real time dust monitor. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 |
The real time dust monitor is examined, calibrated and zeroed. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 |
The specified instruments are handled safely. |

This information shows the current accreditations (i.e. those not past their accreditation end dates), and is the most complete record available to SAQA as of today. Some Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionaries have a lag in their recording systems for provider accreditation, in turn leading to a lag in notifying SAQA of all the providers that they have accredited to offer qualifications and unit standards, as well as any extensions to accreditation end dates. The relevant Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionary should be notified if a record appears to be missing from here. |
