PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The learner credited with this unit standard will be able to install a height gauge according to procedures and specifications, indicating to road vehicles with high loads and abnormal high vehicles to pass safely through under overhead track equipment at level crossings. Successful learners may be certified by the Rail authorities as competent to install a height gauge. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
It is assumed that learners are already competent in the following:
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF level 1.
  • Communication at NQF level 1.
  • Train Working rules.
  • Electrical Safety Instructions (Authorisation).
