PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to understand and adhere to all relevant prescribed regulatory documentation, legislation, and organisational policies and standard operating procedures required to perform his or her duties within the transport activities of the South African public services sector.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Identifying and interpreting regulatory documentation
  • Applying relevant regulatory documentation
  • Displaying fundamental knowledge of the standard operating procedures
  • Reviewing the standard operating procedures 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners accessing this unit standard are competent in:
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3 or its equivalent
  • Language Literacy at NQF level 3 or its equivalent

  • In the South African Public Services Sector where transport is a support/secondary activity in rendering public service (usually on behalf of government) to the communities of South Africa.

    Regulatory documentation that is applicable for day-to-day activities is identified and stated in tabular format by providing the day-to-day circumstances with corresponding specific sections from the regulatory documentation.

    The relevant regulatory documentation is applied to the daily activities carried out within the transport department by providing examples.

    The relevant regulatory documentation is applied to the organisational policies and standard operating procedures by providing examples. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The relevant regulatory documentation is monitored to ensure relevance to changing times by providing examples of amended regulatory documentation. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Display fundamental knowledge of the standard operating procedures.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The standard operating procedures are discussed to determine whether the procedures are applicable to the work environment. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Adherence to specific aspects of the standard operating procedures is proven by providing evidence of work carried out. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The standard operating procedures are analysed to determine as to whether they discuss the legal and regulatory requirements that are applicable to the specific aspect of the standard operating procedures.

    Review the standard operating procedures.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The organisational standard operating procedures are scrutinised to ensure relevance to technological advancements in transport systems. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The organisational standard operating procedures are updated so as to comply to changing systems and changing environments. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The organisational standard operating procedures are revised in written format with reference to the changes being made. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The organisational standard operating procedures are submitted to higher authority for approval in line with organisational prcedures. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
