PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Demonstrating an understanding of formwork and preparing, fabricating, erecting and stripping steel formwork.

    These learning outcomes form part of the Elective learning in the "National Certificate in Construction".

    This unit standard will contribute to the development of more professional construction workers.

    The skills, knowledge and understanding demonstrated within this unit standard are essential for social and economic transformation and upliftment within the construction environment. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    The following knowledge, skills attitude and/or equivalent:
  • ABET Level 4 or NQF Level 1 English literacy and numeracy. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Learners will perform the tasks listed in this unit standard under supervision.
  • Formwork includes steel up to a height of 3 meters.
  • Preparation of shutters includes but is not limited to: Cleaning and treating.
  • Faults include but are not limited to: Loose tiles and inadequate cover to reinforcing.
