PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for people who trade on the various desks, conduct the treasurer function and monitor risk in a treasury.

Learners are able to:
  • Operate applicable trading systems
  • Develop and use word processing and spread sheeting systems
  • Use company specific information systems. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are competent in:
  • Communication at NQF Level 3
  • The Unit standard entitled, "Follow trading procedures in a treasury".
  • Computer Literacy at NQF Level 3. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Applicable Trading systems include FEDS, Reuters, Tele Rate and internal information systems, Excel, Bloomberg and Infinity.
  • Appropriate word processing systems are MS Word and Word Perfect.
  • Appropriate spread sheeting systems are Quattro Pro, MS Excel and Lotus.
  • Desired spreadsheet outcomes are reports, analysis, models and profit and loss accounts.
  • Desired word processing outcomes are reports, memorandums, communiqués and circulars.
  • Providers of company information are Reuters, Bloomberg and Telerate.

    Terms and conditions of a deal are captured correctly as per system specific requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Deals are authorised and transmitted to the back office of the Treasury within defined timeframes. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Deals conducted telephonically are recorded as per business specified procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Client balances, cash flow forecasts, prices and rates are established and integrated into the deal as per business specified procedure. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Develop and use applicable word processing and spread sheeting systems.

    Spreadsheets are developed and data is manipulated in order to achieve desired outcomes as per business guidelines.

    Desired outcomes are understood, applied and integrated into work practices as per business specified procedures.

    The various databases available for the provision of information are selected and manoeuvred through using the correct operating procedures.

    Current information relating to market situations is extracted to the specified requirements.

    The relevant models on the system are used and applied as per system operating procedures, where applicable. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Deals are executed using extracted information and the applicable models as per systems operating procedures, where applicable. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.

    The learner will collect, organise and critically evaluate information when compiling client balances, cash flow forecasts, prices, rates and market situation information that is integrated into the deal. 

    UNIT STANDARD CCFO SCIENCE 
    The learner will display the ability to use science and technology effectively and critically when capturing deals into trading systems, and using applicable word processing and spread sheeting systems. The learners will further demonstrate this skill when using and applying various models on the information providing system to execute deals.
