PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This standard is in the elective category of the NQF Level 4 National Certificate in CTFL Mechanician Processes. Learners who are assessed competent with this unit standard are able to diagnose faults and conduct repairs and overhauls to textile machinery (wet processes). Learners will also be able to demonstrate the ability to strip and assemble textile machinery (wet processes) and conduct maintenance on textile machinery (wet processes). |

The textile machinery (wet processes) is cleaned externally, all and any connection lines are disconnected and covered, and the machinery is prepared for overhaul in accordance with production plans and manufacturer's specifications. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 |
The machinery is dismantled, cleaned and components are checked for wear and damage and assessed for further use in the manner prescribed by the manufacturer. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 |
Components unsuitable for further use are replaced with approved replacement parts, and / or faults are rectified according to manufacturers specifications. |

The machinery is reassembled following the procedure prescribed by the manufacturer. |
