PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
Learners credited with this unit standard are able to send and receive messages using specialised policing communication equipment. Effective communication impacts directly on the level of service provided to the public, and safety and security in South Africa. Improved communication will bring down the cost of communication breakdowns that could include loss of life. Communicating with colleagues using specialised policing equipment forms an integral part of any crime fighting and prevention activities in South Africa. The quality of communication using the specialised equipment has received much criticism in the past, and attaining competence in this regard will greatly improve service delivery.
