PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to prepare their workstation for semi-permanent eyelash treatment, prepare their client, perform the treatment, and finish off the semi-permanent eyelash treatment.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Preparing the workstation for the application of semi-permanent eyelashes.
  • Preparing the client for the application of semi-permanent eyelashes.
  • Performing and concluding the service according to organisational requirements.
  • Discussing and explaining the sue of aftercare products and services. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence against unit standards in mathematical, computer, numerical and communication studies at NQF Level 2 or equivalent. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Preparation includes the use of non-oily make-up remover.
  • Semi-permanent eyelash applications includes realistic and unrealistic client expectations.
  • Semi-permanent eyelashes include individual and strip lashes.
  • A magnifying lamp may be used.

    Prepare the workstation for the application of semi-permanent eyelashes.

    Lighting, temperature and ventilation are set in accordance with organisational requirements.

    The chair / plinth is protected according to organisational requirements.

    The relevant tools, materials and products are prepared for the service too be provided and according to organisational requirements.

    The appropriate waste receptacle is positioned within reach of the workstation.

    Record keeping documentation is prepared according to organisational requirements. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Prepare the client for the application of semi-permanent eyelashes.

    The client is received and consulted with in a professional and polite manner.

    The eyelash area is prepared and appropriate pre-care products are applied according to safety, hygienic and organisational methods.

    A professional manner and attitude is displayed and maintained throughout the service.

    The eyelashes and surrounding skin is cleansed and made free of any make-up with appropriate non-oily products.

    An allergy test is conducted prier to the service and according to organisational requirements.

    Safe and hygienic work practices are demonstrated throughout the service according to regulations and organisational requirements.

    Discuss and explain the use of aftercare products and services.

    Aftercare products are applied according to manufacturers instructions and client's requirements.

    The follow up appointment is secured and the client record card is completed.

    Sales opportunities are identified throughout the treatment and products are recommended that are suitable with the clients needs.
