PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:

Applying, without supervision, technology to the preparation of wheat for the milling process to maintain consistent quality of finished products. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have:
  • Literacy, numeracy and communication skills at or equivalent to NQF level 1.
  • Successfully completed a course on Wheat preparation technology.
  • Spent at least six months operating the wheat preparation section in the specific mill in the work situation after successful completion of the above course.
  • An understanding of General Safety in the work place at NQF level 1. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • The scope of this unit standard deals with the application of technology to the wheat preparation process in both the silo and screenroom section.
  • The specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard should be performed without direct supervision or access to work site procedures and operating instructions except where the assessor deems them to be necessary.
  • NB. Unit standard Applying technology to wheat preparation GRM 010, applies only to wheat milling.
