PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Qualifying learners will be to explain the basic principles of paper, board or tissue testing, perform the necessary tests using appropriate test equipment, and document test results whilst adhering to safety, health, environment and quality requirements. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Learners attempting this unit standard are required to read, understand and interpret work instructions that are of a technical nature and to have basic chemistry and mathematical knowledge. It is therefore required that they have achieved NQF level 2 or equivalent accreditation. 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
At least five tests need to be assessed.
