PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD

Learners acquiring this standard will be learning towards obtaining a national qualification or are working within a transport management environment, where acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to learner`s job, or chances of finding employment.

The qualifying learner is capable of:

Understanding, interpreting and executing routes and schedules received

Conducting routing and scheduling activity

Analysing and interpreting route data

Evaluating circumstances and taking applicable action in the routing and scheduling function

Knowing when and how to report incidences to superior officers

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

Learners accessing this unit standard / qualification will have demonstrated competence against numeracy, literacy and communication skills at NQF Level 2 or the basic transport operations and applicable prescriptive labour and road transport legislation as well as the relevant knowledge from contract / tender / permissions.
