PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This Unit Standard is intended for learners who are involved in gathering information on behalf of a Community Development organisation as part of a community needs assessment. It is assumed that the learner is not responsible for designing questionnaires or for analysing and presenting the final findings. It will be useful for gathering accurate information to stakeholders within the relevant community which will assist with the development of community projects. This will facilitate community development planning for all communities. This unit standard offers a pathway for learners who want to follow a career in community development.

It is assumed that learners are competent in Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 2, or equivalent. |
UNIT STANDARD RANGE |
This unit standard deals with activities related to obtaining, recording and passing on information required for community development initiatives. Data collection includes participation in surveys, appraisals, interviews, documentary research, basic community consultations as well as storing and maintaining the data.
Collection of data in the field, takes place under direct supervision as part of a larger research project. Information may be qualitative and/or quantitative. |
